School Resource Officers (SRO)
NECRC is working with the North End community, police and local schools to implement the three-year School Resource Officer (SRO) project. The SRO project works to enhance the relationship between North End youth, community, and police.
NECRC oversees the SRO project and has participated in its success by:
- Obtaining training funds for the North End community, police and school representatives to advance their skills in working with Aboriginal youth
- Undertaking a grassroots and city-wide awareness campaign for the SRO project
- Evaluating the SRO project to build a case for its continuation and expansion
